Golfers in England looking for a short weekend break tend to look for resorts or golf courses no more than 2-3 hours’ drive from their home as although you want the feeling of going away, no one wants to spend hours and hours in the car. Listing endless resorts in England doesn’t necessarily help you decide on a destination but a quick 5-minute call to one of our experienced sales team will save you hours trawling the internet for ideas. Our job is to establish your requirements and provide you suitable options at an affordable price. Why waste your valuable time when we can do the legwork for you!
Without bombarding you with hundreds of options, here are just a few destinations to whet your appetite.
We will start with the South Coast with
Bournemouth, an extremely popular golf destination with some great golf courses, Parkstone, Remedy Oak, Ferndown and Broadstone would all be a fabulous addition to any golf tour.
The South West offers Devon and Cornwall with its jurrasic coastline providing the most amazing backdrops to many of the coastal courses. Cornwall, a favourite of mine as I visit once a year playing St Enodoc, Trevose and Perranporth and in Devon Saunton Sands East & West, Royal North Devon and the superb Bovey Castle Resort offering not just a great golf course but entertainment for the whole family.
Kent, the `Garden of England` home to Royal St Georges and many other fantastic courses both inland and coastal but a trip to Sandwich playing, Royal St Georges Royal Cinque Ports, and Princes Golf Club staying at the excellent lodges on site is a belter of a trip.
The South East offers many household names and some of the most famous are in the Surrey and Berkshire area, Wentworth, Sunningdale, The Berkshire, St Georges Hill, all huge names but with equally huge price tags. There are many other courses with green fees at lower prices that you will also enjoy such as Foxhills Hotel with two great golf courses on-site.
Norfolk is another great destination with some stunning courses and easily accessible for much of the country. A very popular tour in this neck of the woods should include Hunstanton, Sheringham and Royal Cromer. Suffolk is also very special with some very nice stay and play resorts offering amazing value for money.
Moving onto the Midlands, of course no coastline here, centrally located and accessible to all, with resorts such as The Belfry and Forest of Arden two of the most famous and extremely popular with larger groups and corporates.
Yorkshire, probably my favourite golfing county both for quality and value for money. Leeds is a fantastic base to stay as nightlife is very good and the surrounding courses are even better, Moortown, Ganton, Alwoodley, Fulford, Moor Allerton and Lindrick to name just a few.
The North West of the Country is golfing heaven and probably the most famous stretch of courses in the country with many hosting top-level professional and amateur events alike. Stellar names such as Royal Liverpool Golf Club (Hoylake), Royal Birkdale, Royal Lytham & St Anne’s, Southport & Ainsdale, Hesketh, Hillside, Formby West Lancashire are just a few of the names that give this area the impressive title of the ‘Golf Coast’ .
